Professional Consultations
“Life is best organized as a series of daring ventures from a secure base.” John Bowlby
I provide consultations for other professionals such as psychologists, marriage and family therapists and clinical social workers. Consultations can be conducted on an ongoing weekly basis or in regards to a specific therapeutic dilemma.
Topics that may be addressed in consultations include:
Discussing possible risk and ethical issues that arise in therapy and ways of handling them
Studying how and when to apply various therapeutic tools from different psychotherapy schools including psychoanalytic/psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems, humanistic therapy and emotional focused therapy for couples
Exploring ideas such as parallel process, transference, counter-transference, projective identification and enactments
Paying attention to unique personality traits while taking into account multi-cultural factors
Learning what constitutes normal development and how to address issues of concern
Supporting the therapist’s own professional goals
